ARTSCAPE 2026 WILD STYLE GALLERY ACTIVATION

BRIEF
WILD STYLE reintroduces graffiti to the public square—not as rebellion, but as legacy.
Presented as a full-scale subway car installation, this immersive project transforms a symbol of movement and resistance into a curated cultural gallery. The exterior will be wrapped in original graffiti works by influential and emerging artists. The interior becomes a walk-through archive featuring prints, books, photographs, artifacts, and original works tracing graffiti’s evolution from underground expression to global art movement.
This is not simply an exhibition. It is a cultural time capsule—inviting audiences to engage with street art as one of the defining visual languages of modern cities.
Given the centrality of paint as both medium and message, VALSPAR is uniquely positioned to serve as the Official Paint & Coatings Partner of WILD STYLE.
More Then A Merch Store, A Cultural Economic Development Engine
Wild Style is a virtual museum store! 1. Browse, art, books & unique apparel. 2. Add items to your shopping cart, 3. Purchase and receive direct shipped to your home.
Potentially a year-round cultural commerce platform designed to strengthen Baltimore’s creative economy.
This Digital Archive & Cultural Fund transforms cultural engagement into sustainable economic support for artists and public programming.
This platform operates as a civic infrastructure layer — connecting artists, audiences, collectors, and institutions through responsible cultural distribution. Rather than functioning as traditional merchandise, the Archive curates historically significant books, limited fine art editions, and artist collaborations that preserve and elevate graffiti and street art as an enduring cultural movement.
Revenue generated through the Wild Style platform supports:
• Artscape programming and year-round activation
• Baltimore-based artists and cultural workers
• Youth arts education initiatives
• Public art and creative placemaking efforts

Film & Sound Archive
Graffiti in Motion
Graffiti culture emerged through image, movement, and sound. The films presented here document the writers, photographers, neighborhoods, and transit systems that shaped the movement from the 1970s to the present. Archival footage captures trains in motion, evolving letterforms, and voices that defined identity through art in public space.
The curated soundtrack reflects graffiti’s sonic foundation — early hip-hop, DJ culture, breakbeats, and the urban soundscapes that carried the work beyond the walls.
Together, film and music restore the atmosphere in which graffiti was born: kinetic, communal, and unapologetically expressive.
