Graffiti in Motion

Graffiti culture emerged through image, movement, and sound. The films presented here document the writers, photographers, neighborhoods, and transit systems that shaped the movement from the 1970s to the present. Archival footage captures trains in motion, evolving letterforms, and voices that defined identity through art in public space.

The curated soundtrack reflects graffiti’s sonic foundation — early hip-hop, DJ culture, breakbeats, and the urban soundscapes that carried the work beyond the walls.

Together, film and music restore the atmosphere in which graffiti was born: kinetic, communal, and unapologetically expressive.

Following the success of our collaboration with LOWE’S at Artscape 2025, we are expanding our 2026 programming with a culturally significant installation that presents a powerful opportunity for VALSPAR and LOWE’S to align with one of the most visible and conversation-driven activations of the festival.

WILD STYLE – Subway Car Graffiti Installation

WILD STYLE reintroduces graffiti to the public square—not as rebellion, but as legacy.

Presented as a full-scale subway car installation, this immersive project transforms a symbol of movement and resistance into a curated cultural gallery. The exterior will be wrapped in original graffiti works by influential and emerging artists. The interior becomes a walk-through archive featuring prints, books, photographs, artifacts, and original works tracing graffiti’s evolution from underground expression to global art movement.

This is not simply an exhibition. It is a cultural time capsule—inviting audiences to engage with street art as one of the defining visual languages of modern cities.

Given the centrality of paint as both medium and message, VALSPAR is uniquely positioned to serve as the Official Paint & Coatings Partner of WILD STYLE.
